In the latest edition of the ever-popular GQ magazine, Siya Kolisi is the cover star for the ‘sports & tech’ issue, and the Springbok captain is said to have shared numerous meaningful insights in the feature interview.

“In this issue, Siya opens up about where he is in life today, shares the lessons he’s learned, his role beyond rugby, and his commitment to making a difference,” the teaser post on social media reveals.

“Siya Kolisi is more than a rugby captain—he’s a father, a mentor, and a leader whose impact goes beyond the game. His journey is one of resilience, purpose, and influence, extending from the field to the community, where he continues to inspire and drive change.”

Last year was certainly a life-changing one for the Springbok captain as he made an early exit from his contract with French Top 14 outfit Racing 92 to rejoin the Sharks, while on a personal level Kolisi announced his separation from Rachel in a joint statement released in November.

At national level, he once again led the Springboks through another highly successful season, which included winning the Rugby Championship (for the first time in a full double round format).

Siya Kolisi is the latest GQ cover star

Speaking to SportsBoom.co.za in an exclusive interview, former Springbok captain Jean De Villiers just recently spoke about the influence of Kolisi.

“I think Siya’s impact, not only on rugby, but on South Africa has been huge. I’ve been extremely fortunate to have seen Siya grow from the 18-year-old arriving at Western Province, making his debut for the Stormers, making his debut for the Springboks, and evolving into this unbelievable human being that has also given back so much.

“He is so inspirational in what he has done. His life story is an exceptional one. And yeah, it will be a remarkable story if he is able to go to a third World Cup and lead the team. And if the team can win it as well, it will be exceptional,” De Villiers added.

“It’s great, it really is to hear the back stories of so many of these players and Siya being right at the front of that, and to see the performances on the field from the team.”
