The Miss SA Organisationhas announced that Mia le Roux has withdrawn from the Miss Universe pageant due to health concerns, via a statement on Friday 15 November.
MIA LE ROUX WITHDRAWS FROM MISS UNIVERSE
Reigning Miss SA Mia le Roux, who made history as South Africa’s first-ever differently-abled Miss SA, had is in Mexico for the Miss Universe pageant. However, the Miss SA Organisation has announced that Mia is withdrawing due to health concerns.
The 73rd Miss Universe pageant taking place in Mexico City, Mexico on 17 November. Reigning Miss Universe Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua will crown her successor at the end of the event.
“It is with deep regret that we share the news that Mia le Roux, Miss South Africa 2024, has had to withdraw from the Miss Universe pageant due to health concerns,” read the statement.
MIA LE ROUX: ‘I AM DEEPLY GRATEFUL’
Miss SA expressed that she is thankful for the support and the decision to withdraw from the international pageant was difficult.
“I am profoundly thankful for the unwavering support from South Africa during my time at Miss Universe. Making the decision has been incredibly challenging, knowing the dreams and hopes that have been placed upon me,” she said.
“However, I am deeply grateful to have the opportunity to focus on my health and recovery so that I may continue to serve my country with full strength,” she continued.
The Miss SA Organisation stated: “Mia has shown incredible courage and grace throughout this difficult period. Her health and well-being are our utmost priority, and we stand by her side, dedicated to ensuring she regains her strength and returns to full health. Our hearts are with her as she takes the necessary steps toward recovery.”
