Samsung introduced Galaxy A earlier this year and has now launched their new flexible Galaxy Z Fold6, along with their Galaxy Z Flip6, Galaxy Buds3 and Galaxy Buds3 Pro during their Galaxy Unpacked event in Paris.
WHAT WE THOUGHT OF THE NEW DEVICE
As an Android user myself, I was so excited to receive the Galaxy Z Fold6 to see how it compares to my current Samsung smartphone and others on the market. I spent the last few days using the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 and the first thing that stood out for me was the camera.
As GenZ, one of the first things we look for on a smartphone is the camera quality because every little thing we do is for “content” and as a journalist, I often use my Android on red carpets and events to capture photos for my stories. So, I paid close attention to the camera quality and I can say I am impressed.
The Galaxy Z Fold6 offers a triple rear camera including a 12MP Ultra-Wide Camera, 12MP Ultra-Wide Camera and 10MP Telephoto Camera. There is also a 10MP Selfie Camera and 4MP Under Display Camera. You can take photos both when the phone is folded and unfolded, which gives you a variety of options. I also liked that I could zoom in up to three times without distorting the quality of the image, which is important when capturing views that are further away than we would like it to be.
MINIMALISTIC LOOK AND MORE FEATURES
The Galaxy Z Fold6 comes in a few different colours including grey, navy, silver shadow and crafted black and white, and I’ve got my hands on the pink. Personally, I love how minimalistic the phone looks and how slim the device folds as well. The device is 132.6 x 153.5 x 5.6mm when unfolded and 68.1 x 153.5 x 12.1mm when folded.
Take a look…
Another important thing for me is the memory and this device comes with 12GB Memory with 1TB internal storage, 12GB Memory with 512GB internal storage and 12GB Memory with 256GB internal storage. So, it’s safe to say that will suffice.
The device also has both wired and wireless charging options, as well as wireless PowerShare. On top of that, the phone is also water resistant, up to 1.5 meters of freshwater for up to 30 minutes.
CIRCLE TO SEARCH
Another feature of the Galaxy Z Fold6 is the Circle to Search feature. This allows users to find more information on a topic while busy, for example, while watching a YouTube video. To do this, you can access Gemini overlay in the multi-window split screen to ask questions. If something sparks your curiosity, you just need to long press the home button and circle, highlight, or tap on screen and the Circle to Search function will offer instant search results.
The Interpreter function also makes barrier-free communication easier than ever before. There is a new conversation mode that enables translations to both parties for more natural interactions.
However, you could also use the one-way translation feature for videos, lectures and more. This is through the Live Translate feature. This can also translate phone calls directly on your device in real-time.
I also noticed that texting while busy is easier than ever. The device offers Suggested Replies based on your latest messages to suggest a tailored response.
