It never rains but pours for Royal AM owner MaMkhize. The club owner is making headlines for her woes with the South African Revenue Service (SARS).
According to SARS, the celebrated businesswoman has a debt of around R40 million.
SAMIR NURKOVIC OPENS UP ABOUT HIS LEGAL BATTLE AGAINST MAMKHIZE
Rumour mill has it that the businesswoman is reluctant to settle it.
Amid MaMkhize’s woes, SuperSport United striker Samir Nurkovic has shed more light on his legal battle with Royal AM, which owes him over R15 million.
Speaking to the media, the former Royal AM seemingly revealed that his legal team is working on the case while he focuses on his football career.
“Certain things in a professional football and professional career are beyond the control of the player. Some people deal with it,” Nurkovic said.
No doubt, the protracted legal battle has been before the courts for over a year, and the club has yet to settle the money owed.
Royal AM initially owed Samir Nurkovic around R12 million, but due to interest rates, the settlement has since ballooned to over R15 million.
In 2022, Samir Nurkovic dragged Royal AM to the football governing body after the club terminated his contract.
Fifa banned the club from transfers and ordered them to pay the Serbian-born striker his full two-year contract.
Against the judgement, the High Court of South Africa ordered MaMkhize to cough up her debts to SARS.
This undoubtedly saw MaMkhize’s SARS debt ballooning from R12.7 million to R37 million in a day. As of 2025, the debt has ballooned to over R40 million.
MAKING HEADLINES
Last year, the High Court also directed the court sheriff “to attach and remove the movable property of the Royal AM” in the wake of MaMkhize’s woes.
This seemingly led to a raid at her R20 million mansion in Durban.
Against the raid, the taxman revealed that the raid was part of its ‘effort to combat tax evasion and criminal activities that undermine the country’s economy.’
The club was put under curator earlier this year as her woes worsened.
This week, MaMkhize made headlines again. Reports have it that she missed her second deadline to submit tax-related documents to SARS.
Rumour mill has it that SARS requested tax-related documents from the multimillionaire, but she allegedly failed to submit them.
However, little is known about the requested documents and whether they are connected to her R40 million debt.
