  • SAFA president Danny Jordaan was arresed over claims he misused R1.3-million of football association money between 2014 and 2018.
  • The Hawks investigation found Jordaan allegedly used SAFA money for personal security and PR without board approval.

SAFA president Danny Jordaan and two others have been arrested after a fraud investigation.

Police arrested Jordaan, 73, another SAFA executive, 55, and a businessman, 46, on Wednesday. The Hawks are investigating claims that they stole R1.3-million.

Authorities allege that Jordaan used SAFA’s funds for personal expenses between 2014 and 2018. This included hiring private security guards and a PR company without permission from SAFA’s board.

Hawks spokesperson Colonel Katlego Mogale said they searched SAFA’s office on 8 March 2024, where they seized computers and files as evidence, leading to the arrests.

The three men will appear in the Palm Ridge Commercial Crimes Court.
