Ralani reveals how Kaizer Chiefs turned down Emile Witbooi

Former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Surprise Ralani has detailed how Kaizer Chiefs turned down his son Emile Witbooi.

This was prior to Witbooi joining the School of Excellence, according to Ralani who was speaking on Metro FM.

According to Ralani, Chiefs complained about Witbooi’s physique, saying he was too small for a player of his age.

And this despite the talent Witbooi showed for the two weeks he spent with the Soweto giants.

Witbooi then moved on with his life, and he now finds himself at Cape Town City where he recently became the youngest player to feature for them in topflight football.

He was introduced as a second half substitute in City’s 2-0 loss to AmaZulu aged 16 years and 186 days.

Furthermore, Witbooi recently flew to London where he spent a month on trial at Chelsea FC.

HOW KAIZER CHIEFS REJECTED EMILE WITBOOI

“He went to Chiefs. I think it was a year or two before he went to the School of Excellence. Chiefs actually turned him down,” said Ralani as per FARPost.

“They said something about his physicality. He was not built enough, according to their standards. But the football side was there, and they had to turn him back.

“[They said], no, he needed to grow a little bit. So, that’s how it happened but he was there at Chiefs.

“I think it was about two weeks. They said no, he is too small, players that were his age were bigger than him. So, they just thought he needs to grow a little bit,” added Ralani.

WILL AMAKHOSI GO BACK TO BUY HIM IN FUTURE?
