Orlando Pirates have an eventful few weeks in store, from fighting for Champions League, Nedbank Cup and PSL glory to finding Jose Riveiro’s successor.

Out of the three trophies up for grabs, the Champions League is arguably the most coveted (and wanted by Pirates fans). Not only would it add another star to the Buccaneers crest, but it also comes with a R75 million reward – a major boost for the upcoming winter window.

What’s happening with personnel?

Monnapule Saleng’s absence from the pitch continues to extend with no return date in sight, albeit being spotted in successive training sessions this month, insinuating both parties to have buried the hatchet.

With Orlando Pirates’ jam-packed schedule, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Saleng back in action before the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Pitso Mosimane, heavily linked to become Jose Riveiro’s successor, has dismissed claims of the club reaching out, saying, “I’ve seen it [links to Pirates], but nobody has spoken to me. We will see.

“And would he consider a return to the Premier Soccer League? “Why not?”, he answered. “It must be for the right project. It must be at the right time.”

Fellow former Mamelodi Sundowns boss Rulani Mokwena is another coach on Orlando Pirates’ radar. The 38-year-old has agreed to leave Wydad Athletic at the end of the season, opening the door for a PSL return.

Who should Orlando Pirates sign as head coach?
