Reports swirling around London suggest that Prince William, the future King, is gearing up to strip Meghan Markle and Prince Harry of their “His and Her Royal Highness” (HRH) titles.
He reportedly wants to do this the moment he ascends the throne.
MEGHAN MARKLE AND THE ‘HRH’ TITLE
The controversy ignited after Meghan sent a gift basket to podcast host Jamie Kern Lima.
The basket, featuring homemade strawberry sauce, came with a note. “With the Compliments of HRH The Duchess of Sussex”.
The note promptly made its way onto social media, sparking outrage among royal traditionalists.
A friend of Prince William didn’t mince words: “There is no way King William will stand for this. The titles will simply be removed when he is King. A way will be found.”
STEPPING BACK FROM ROYAL DUTIES
In 2020, after Harry and Meghan stepped back from royal duties and moved to California, they agreed-at the famous Sandringham Summit-not to use their HRH titles in any capacity.
The late Queen Elizabeth II was reportedly adamant: “You work for the monarchy, the monarchy doesn’t work for you.
PRINCE WILLIAM AND THE HRH TITLE
King Charles III, by all accounts, prefers to avoid confrontation. Insiders claim King Charles has lost control and will not act, even as Meghan continues to sign personal gifts as HRH
Royal experts point out that the monarch can remove HRH styles by decree, similar to an executive order, according to GBNews.
Norman Baker, a former government minister, explains:
“The law is not clear, but I have little doubt that as the bestowing of an HRH is in the gift of the monarch, the monarch could remove the HRH title by decree.”
PRINCE WILLIAM’S DECISION
As the world waits for Prince William to take the throne, the question remains: Will he really go through with stripping the Sussexes of their HRH titles?
If he does, it could mark the final break between the brothers-and send shockwaves through royal watchers everywhere.
DO YOU THINK PRINCE WILLIAM SHOULD STRIP HARRY AND MEGHAN OF THEIR HRH TITLES?
