Prince William recently shared rare personal reflections on his relationship with his brother, Prince Harry, in his new documentary, Prince William: We Can End Homelessness.

PRINCE WILLIAM’S NEW DOCUMENTARY

In the two-part series, the royal delves into their shared past. He recalls a pivotal childhood memory shaped by their late mother, Princess Diana.

The clip marks one of the first times William has openly spoken about Harry amid their widely reported rift, according to People.

PRINCE WILLIAM, HARRY AND PRINCESS DIANA

Prince William’s comments harken back to a memory with Harry when they visited The Passage. This is a UK charity aiding those facing homelessness, according to CBS News.

Their mother, Diana, arranged the visit to teach her sons the importance of compassion and service.”My mother took me to The Passage; she took Harry and I both there.

I must have been about ten or eleven,” William recounted. “I’d never seen anything like it before, and I was a bit anxious about what to expect.”

PRINCE WILLIAM’S ADMIRATION FOR DIANA

William recalled Diana’s warmth and ability to make people feel at ease.

“My mother went about her usual, making everyone feel relaxed, having a laugh and joking with everyone.

At the time, I thought, ‘If everyone doesn’t have a home, they’re all going to be really sad.’

But it was incredible how happy an environment it was,” he said, reflecting on the sense of community he encountered there.

CONNECTING WITH PEOPLE

The moment had a lasting impact on William, and he spoke fondly of connecting with people in ways he hadn’t imagined possible, according to The Guardian.

“I remember having good conversations, playing chess, chatting.

That’s when it dawned on me that there were people out there who didn’t have the same life as you do.” he explained.

“As a child, you think life is what you see around you, and you don’t really have a concept of looking elsewhere.

When you meet people, as I did then, who tell you, ‘Well, I was living on the street last night,’ it’s like, ‘Woah.’ I remember that moment.”

PRINCE WILLIAM AND PRINCE HARRY

Prince William’s choice to reference his brother in the documentary is significant amid their current relationship struggles.

According to sources, the brothers’ rift has been severe. This is especially so, as Harry sought extra security for himself and his family during visits to the UK.

There have been reports that King Charles has also distanced himself. This has led to additional strain within the family.

STRAINED RELATIONSHIPS

The strained relationship between Harry and his father reportedly escalated following the King’s cancer diagnosis.

Harry attempted to reach out and check on his father’s health.

However, insiders suggest that only a royal-level security arrangement could help reconcile Harry with both his father and brother.

SPOTLIGHT IN HOMELESSNESS

The Prince of Wales’s documentary seeks to spotlight the homelessness crisis in the UK. It draws on his own experiences and his mother’s lasting influence.

“My mother showed us from a young age that people need to feel seen and valued,” William said.
