Prince Harry surprised fans in a hilarious video announcing the closing ceremony of the upcoming Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025.
The Duke of Sussex teamed up with country music star Jelly Roll for the reveal, adding a playful twist involving a “tattoo” session.
PRINCE HARRY GETS A ‘TATTOO’
The video, shared on Instagram on 19 November, features Harry visiting East Side Ink. This is a New York tattoo parlour famed for celebrity clients like Scarlett Johansson and Robert Downey Jr.
Harry appeares relaxed, sitting in a tattoo chair while awaiting Jelly Roll, according to the BBC.
When the singer arrived, he expressed excitement about the unexpected request.
“They told me Prince Harry wanted a tattoo! This is the coolest thing ever,” Jelly Roll exclaimed.
PRINCE HARRY INKS FOR THE INVICTUS GAMES
Harry, looking amused, clarified that he’d come to invite Jelly Roll to perform at the Invictus Games.
The singer, however, struck a cheeky deal: “I’ll play the Games if you let me give you your first tattoo.”
After some playful banter, Harry caved. “Alright, screw it, let’s go,” he said as the tattoo gun buzzed into action.
PRINCE HARRY’S HILARIOUS BANTER
Fans enjoyed the comedic exchange between the Duke and the Grammy-nominated artist.
When Jelly Roll suggested a neck tattoo, Harry countered, “I was thinking my lower back,” according to E News.
Jelly Roll laughed and shot back, “Nobody wants to see that, Harry!”
As Jelly Roll began ‘tattooing,’ Harry asked nervously, “Wait, have you done this before?” The singer replied with mock confidence, “Practically, pretty much.” Harry quipped, “This feels big, man.”
The video ended with the big reveal—a fake tattoo on Harry’s neck reading, “I Am Jelly Roll,” mimicking the Invictus Games logo.
INVICTUS GAMES AND RESILIENCE
The video’s light-hearted tone delighted audiences and shone a spotlight on the Invictus Games’ message of resilience.
The Games, founded by Harry in 2014, offer wounded, injured, and sick service personnel a platform for healing through adaptive sports, according to ABC News.
The seventh iteration will take place in Vancouver and Whistler from 8 to 16 February 2025. The closing ceremony promises to be memorable, with Jelly Roll headlining the event.
The Invictus Games team said the full performance lineup will be unveiled on 20 November.
POKING FUN AT HIMSELF
Jelly Roll, known for hits like Save Me and Need a Favour, expressed his excitement about performing for such a meaningful cause.
This humorous clip also shows a lighter side to the Duke, endearing him to fans worldwide.
“Commitment prince,” Jelly Roll joked as the “tattoo” session unfolded.
Harry’s willingness to poke fun at himself while championing a cause dear to him underscores his unique approach to royal duties.
ANTICIPATION FOR THE GAMES
The prank video has sparked anticipation for the Games, with fans eager to see Jelly Roll’s performance.
And while Harry left the tattoo parlour without any permanent ink, the message was clear: the Invictus Games are enormous—just like Jelly Roll’s sense of humour.
