Prince Harry and Meghan Markle found themselves in the hot seat this weekend on the iconic American comedy show Saturday Night Live (SNL).
Colin Jost, co-anchor of the show’s Weekend Update segment, delivered a sharp and hilarious roast that had viewers laughing.
HARRY AND MEGHAN ON SNL
During the sketch, Jost quipped about a new trade deal between the UK and the US.
“President Trump also announced a new trade deal with the UK that will reopen British markets for American companies,” he said.
Then came the punchline: “All that Britain demands in return is that we keep these two.” Then a photo of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle flashed on the screen.
The joke landed hard, poking fun at the couple’s complicated relationship with the British royal family, according to Page Six.
It’s a reminder that, despite their move to California and high-profile lifestyle, the Sussexes remain a hot topic on both sides of the Atlantic.
HARRY AND MEGHAN WATCH COWBOY CARTER
Just the night before their SNL roast, Harry and Meghan were the picture of affection at Beyoncé’s final Cowboy Carter tour stop at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
Meghan, 43, shared a sweet video of Harry, 40, planting a tender kiss on her cheek. The couple’s public display of love contrasted sharply with the biting comedy from the night before.
Meghan also gave fans a peek at Harry’s unique style.
The Duke sported a forest green hat customised with the names of their children, Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 3, embroidered on the inside brim.
THE ROYAL FAMILY
The hat also featured emblems of the American, Californian, and British flags, a nod to their transatlantic life.
Harry and Meghan stepped back from royal duties in 2020, citing racism and a toxic environment within the palace.
Since then, they have settled into a lavish $14 million (about R252 million) mansion in Montecito, California, where they live with their children.
THE SUSSEXES
The Sussexes’ story resonates here, too-especially their move to a new life abroad and the public scrutiny they face.
As comedian Colin Jost’s roast shows, the Sussex saga is far from over. Whether you see them as rebels or royalty, Harry and Meghan continue to captivate and entertain the world.
DO YOU THINK HARRY AND MEGHAN WILL EVER RETURN TO THE UK ROYAL SPOTLIGHT?
