Pregnant KFC employee shot at drive-thru in Gqeberha

A pregnant KFC employee was left injured after she was shot while working at a drive-thru in Gqeberha, reported SABC NEWS on 14 January 2025.

The shooting reportedly occurred on Monday, 13 January, in the evening at Koyana street in Zwide. A search is currently underway by police in the Eastern Cape for the shooter.

PREGNANT KFC EMPLOYEE SHOT IN GQEBERHA

According to police it is alleged that an unknown male shot at the pregnant KFC employee through the window at the drive-thru in Zwide, Gqeberha. The food outlet’s staffer has since been hospitalised and is receiving treatment.

Captain Andre Beetge, the police spokesperson, explained: “It is alleged that an unknown male suspect shot a female employee of KFC through the drive through window. She is four months pregnant and was rushed to hospital for medical attention.”

SEARCH ON FOR SUSPECT AFTER PREGNANT KFC EMPLOYEE SHOT

A search is on for the suspect involved in the shooting of the pregnant KFC employee. He is said to have been driving a white Nissan double cab bakkie at the time of the incident.

Beetge further expressed: “The suspect drove a white Nissan double cab bakkie and SAPS are looking for this suspect. An attempted murder case was opened and is being investigated by the police in Kwazakhele.”

Police have appealed for assistance in finding the suspect, reported Algoa FM on 14 January 2025. Individuals with information concerning the case can go to their nearest police station. They can also call CrimeStop on 08600 10111.

SIX-YEAR-OLD BOY SHOT DEAD AT MCDONALD’S DRIVE-THRU

The pregnant KFC employee drive-thru shooting is the second incident reported since the start of 2025. The South African previously reported that a six-year-old boy was shot and killed in early January at a McDonald’s drive-thru in Meadowdale, East Rand. The tragedy occurred when the child and his parents went to a drive-thru where a robbery was taking place. The boy was sadly declared deceased at Primrose Hospital.
