The tide has changed for Kaizer Chiefs under Nasreddine Nabi and for some players it is not good news.
Kaizer Chiefs have given fans plenty to look forward to with their form in the PSL so far.
Barring a competitive 2-1 loss to defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns, Amakhosi have not been beaten in any other matches. Moreover, they are fresh off a resounding 4-0 win over SuperSport United in the Carling Cup. Unfortunately, it is not all sunshine and rainbows in Naturena as some players may never play for Chiefs again.
CHIEFS PLAYERS WHO ARE UNLIKELY TO PLAY FOR THEM AGAIN
Itumeleng Khune, Edmilson Dove and Mduduzi Mdantsane are all unlikely to play for Amakhosi under Nabi. Moreover, they’re unlikely to run out for Chiefs again.
Khune has not confirmed his retirement yet. However, he is no longer registered as a Chiefs player.
Meaning, the Amakhosi legend is a free agent. Therefore, he can join any club in the PSL. Interestingly, he can join any side now due to free agents being allowed to be signed outside of the regular transfer window.
FOREIGN QUOTA TO FORCE AMAKHOSI EXIT
Meanwhile, Dove is technically no longer a Chiefs player. Whilst, the club has not confirmed his departure, the talented defender was not registered as a part of Amakhosi’s 2024/25 squad.
Now, this is because they are only allowed to have five registered foreign-based players.
Furthermore, Dove is currently injured so it makes sense to not use up one of the spots for a player who is unable to play. However, Chiefs have established Rushwin Dortley and Inacio Miguel as their primary defenders.
Additionally, Bongani Sam is recovering from an injury and he joins Bradley Cross as one of Chiefs new defenders. So, Dove may not return to Chiefs in the future after all. As mentioned, this has not been confirmed yet.
UNDERWHELMING CHIEFS SPELL FROM MDANTSANE
Finally, midfielder Mduduzi Mdantsane is also out injured.
However, after an incident involving himself and Khune in training last season, management are leaning towards letting him go. When Mdandsane joined Chiefs from Cape Town City he was one of the most talked about and hyped stars in the PSL. Unfortunately, he struggled to find his feet at Chiefs. So, now that he is injured there is a very real possibility that he may not return to play for Amakhosi.
WHERE DO YOU THINK ITUMELENG KHUNE SHOULD PLAY NEXT OR IS IT TIME FOR THE CHIEFS LEGEND TO RETIRE?
