Pitso Mosimane’s boss at Esteghlal FC, Dr Farshid Samiiei, has sent a strong message of encouragement to fans after suffering back-to-back defeats.

Mosimane is beset with the herculean task of reviving Esteghlal FC, who have been lowly since the start of the season.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly coach took charge of the team last month, with hopes of changing their fortunes.

In this season’s Persian Gulf League, Esteghlal’s form has been shaky after recording one win in their last five games.

On Thursday, Mosimane presided over his second match with the team, where they lost 2-0 to league leaders Tractor.

Five days before this one, they lost 3-1 to Kheybar Khorramabad. As such, they now sit in 12th position in the league, with eight points from nine matches. In addition, they are just three points above the relegation zone.

WHAT THE ESTEGHLAL CEO SAID AFTER BACK-TO-BACK DEFEATS

And while Mosimane has been rallying his charges to improve their attitude and how they apply themselves, Esteghlal FC CEO Dr Farshid Samiiei has sent a message to the club’s fans.

“I apologise to all the fans of Esteghlal Club of Iran for the recent poor results that are in no way acceptable, on behalf of myself and the Esteghlal FC team,” he said. “The only way out of this situation is to support the cadres and the players of the team as they continue their journey.

“I believe that soon and after more training, making the most of the holidays from Premier League matches, after FIFAD, we will witness a powerful display of independence on the field.

“Sorry again for the recent results. I ask that you continue to support the cadres and players for the days of success and victory to come.

“The ability of the current technical staff, the ability of players who have proven their technical abilities before, the ambition of my colleagues.

“And most importantly, your presence and support. Dear fans, it is Esteghlal that if you continue to be like a mountain behind this team, it will rise again, relying on God and on your support. Independence stays with you and makes greatness.”
