Pitso Mosimanehas taken over as the new coach of Iranian club Esteghlal Khuzestan FC and his first match is against Cristiano Ronaldo‘s Al-Nassr FC.

Esteghlal FC announced on Friday that Jingles joined the club on a one-year deal. Mosimane returns to coaching for the first time in five months having left Saudi Arabian outfit Abha in May. According to reports, Jingles as usual, will bring his own technical team as he looks to get Esteghlal back on track this season.

Mosimane’s first match will be against Ronaldo’s side Al-Nasr in the AFC Champions League. The 60-year-old coach faced the team in the Saudi Pro League last season so he should know what to expect.

Esteghlal welcomed Mosimane to the club in a statement on Friday. The coach was given a one-year-deal to get the club out of trouble and be competitive.

“The 60-year-old head coach from South Africa, Pitso Mosimane, with a bag of experience and numerous international honors, joined the great Esteghlal team with a one-year contract and took over the leadership of this team,” a club statement read.

Pitso is to face off against Ronaldo this coming week

“Hoping for great independence under the guidance of this coach.”

Esteghlal are currently 10th in a 16-team Persian Gulf Pro League log so far this season. The Iranian side have collected just nine points from their first eight matches. Mosimane has a huge task on his hands but given his experience, he should manage to get the club into the top five.

Did Pitso make the right choice by moving to Iran?
