Long-time Kaizer Chiefs ‘target’ and former Sundowns boss Pitso Mosimane has found himself a brand spanking new job.

Mosimane joins Esteghlal F.C. after Kaizer Chiefs flirtations

Pitso Mosimane, a long-time alleged target of Kaizer Chiefs, will embark on his next managerial adventure in Iran. He joins Esteghlal F.C. who are languishing in mid-table in the Iran Pro League with eight points after seven games.

Pitso’s spell in Saudi ended on a sour note

After having his Al Wahda contract ripped up after just 10 games, Pitso focused on family during Christmas 2023. He also discussed his short-term ambitions at the tail-end of what was an eventful year for Jingles. In 2024, he took up a short-term role with Abha Club in Saudi Arabia but they were relegated at the end of the 2023-2024 campaign.

“To be honest, there is interest in me now and in a totally different space that you and I could ever think of – Asia, not the Gulf,” he stated.

“So there has been interest. And there’s been an interesting one also from North America. And why not? Why not go to North America, why not go to Japan, China, those places, because for us, it is also our legacy.

“So if you can get a project that’s interesting in the Gulf, just for example, and a similar project in Asia, probably I would go to Asia, just to go see.

“But on that one, national teams, I don’t have a problem to be back in the continent, but club-wise no.”

Who is the new Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Cedric Kaze?
