‘Pirates struggle against small teams’ – Mngqithi makes assessment

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Manqoba Mngqithi says Orlando Pirates might not maintain their good form throughout the season.

The Buccaneers have already won the MTN8 title this season and are currently level on points with Masandawana in the Betway Premiership. Both teams are also involved in the CAF Champions League having reached the group stages.

Asked if Pirates could push his team in the league, Mngqithi honestly assessed his rivals.

“They are a team I think that is going to push us, I hope and pray they do have the depth to carry themselves during the group stages and the league because I think that’s where maybe the separation will take place,” he told the media.

“I do believe they are a very good team and they tried to rotate the squad unfortunately it did not work out very well in the Carling Knockout Cup but honestly speaking I think they are team that will really pose a lot of problems.

“But I still maintain that they are a team that does not do well against small teams and so far they’ve really done well but let’s continue and see. Because that’s where I think maybe the championship will be decided,” Mngqithi said as per iDiski Times.

Both the Buccaneers and the Brazilians are yet to meet this season. Mngqithi’s men only play Pirates in January next year and that clash could very well decide where the title might go end of the season.

Is Manqoba’s assessment spot on?
