Orlando Pirates extended their flawless start to the new season by notching up their seventh consecutive victory in the Betway Premiership with a 1-0 win against Richards Bay FC at Orlando Stadium on Tuesday night.

ORLANDO PIRATES SET NEW RECORD
Pirates came into this match with the goal of achieving a new club record of seven straight wins at the beginning of a PSL season. The team accomplished this by defeating the Natal Rich Boyz.
This is the first time Pirates have won seven consecutive league games in any part of a PSL season.
JOSE RIVEIRO’S 100TH MATCH AS ORLANDO PIRATES COACH
Jose Riveiro reached his 100th game as the head coach of the Soweto giants during the match against Richards Bay.
He is the second coach in the PSL era at the club to achieve this milestone, following Ruud Krol.
In those 100 games, the Spanish mentor won 61, drew 20, and lost 19.
ORLANDO PIRATES REMAIN UNBEATEN IN THE BETWAY PREMIERSHIP
The Buccaneers remain undefeated in the current Betway Premiership season. So far, the Sea Robbers have competed in seven games and emerged victorious in each one.
Currently, Pirates are thriving at the top of the standings with 21 points, leading second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns by six points.
EVIDENCE MAKGOPA CONTINUES TO DELIVER FOR ORLANDO PIRATES
The Bafana Bafana international broke the deadlock in the 26th minute of the showpiece to give Pirates the lead.
This was Makgopa’s fourth league goal in the current campaign. Overall, the former Baroka FC frontman has found the back of the net on six occasions.
NO CLEAN SHEET FOR RICHARDS BAY FC AGAINST ORLANDO PIRATES
Since September last year, Richards Bay were the only team that has kept a clean sheet against Happy People in their last 24 home games across all competitions.
However, the KwaZulu-Natal outfit failed to keep a clean sheet against Pirates tonight at Orlando Stadium.
