Orlando Pirates to swap top midfielder for Appollis and Matuludi?

Although Orlando Pirates are not on pole to sign Oswin Appollis, the Buccaneers might sacrifice their top midfielder to bring in the Bafana Bafanawinger.

Appollis is undoubtedly the most talked about player during the January transfer window in the country. Polokwane City though, has maintained they have no desire to sell their most-priced player. Kaizer Chiefs are the team that appears to be favourites to sing the winger but the club has not made a formal offer.

Pirates, on the other hand, have reportedly knocked on City’s door for Appollis and Thabang Matuludi. According to Soccer Laduma, the Buccaneers were keen to bring in the Rise and Shine duo and offer the club Phillip Ndlondlo.

“Each and every passing day, things are taking a different direction concerning the deal,” a source told the publication.

Pirates set eyes on Appollis with Matuludi injured

“You remember at first we spoke about City being interested in Katlego Otladisa and could not get him, and then Pirates are believed to have offered Phillip Ndlondlo instead? And things stalled a bit. And now, Thabang Matuludi is injured. They can’t conclude the deal now because Matuludi is injured. This changes all the dynamics of the negotiations. So, at the moment, we don’t see the deal happening,” the source told Soccer Laduma.

Orlando Pirates have not commented on Appollis rumours but the club did make a statement on Patrick Maswanganyi. The 26-year-old playmaker was linked to a move to Portugal but the club has since rubbished the claims.

Where will Appollis end up in the next few weeks?
