Following the Bloemfontein match, Bafana coach Mole Ntseki clarified that Saleng, along with Pirates teammate Azola Tshobeni, was released from camp as part of planned squad changes. Yet, no official explanation was given for his omission from the second leg, leaving fans puzzled.
