Al Ahly‘s forward Percy Taureceived a warm welcome from Orlando Piratessupporters at Orlando Stadium this weekend.
The 30-year-old attacker was brought on in the 63rd minute during the goalless draw between the Buccaneers and Al Ahly. However, the former Mamelodi Sundowns star did not make a significant impact after coming off the bench, and both teams ended up sharing the points.
After the final whistle, Tau was embraced by several Orlando Pirates players. He also took the time to walk around the stadium to acknowledge the home fans who had turned out in large numbers for the highly anticipated match.
Despite Al Ahly’s success, the Witbank-born player has not seen much game time under Marcel Kohler in the past 12 months. Reports have linked Tau with a move away from Egypt in the coming months as his contract expires in June next year.
Percy Tau is shown love by Orlando Pirates
Former Al Ahly star Magdy Abdelghany has questioned why Marcel Kohler did not start with Tau against Orlando Pirates.
“Percy Tau is one of the fastest Al Ahly players, so why was he on the bench in the match against the South African champion?” Abdelghany told MBC Masr.
“Percy Tau’s presence had an impact on Al Ahly’s formation and made a difference.”
Percy Tau will again play Orlandi Pirates on 17 January when the two teams face again in the CAF Champions League in Egypt. The Buccaneers will travel to Ivory Coast this weekend to play Stade d’Abidjan in the CAF Champions League.
Is Percy Tau still a top player?
