Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro won big again after winning the Black Label Cup against Carling Knockout champions Magesi FC on Saturday night at Orlando Stadium.

JOSE RIVEIRO WINS THE BLACK LABEL CUP AGAIN

Jose Riveiro guided the Carling All-Stars to a three-nil win, with Kaizer Chiefs stars making the difference.

Naledi Hlongwane netted a brace, while Zwane capped his moments of brilliance with a superb finish.

This is Riveiro’s second consecutive Carling Cup triumph, having previously guided the team to victory over Stellenbosch FC.

He undoubtedly had a pool of great talent at his disposal, with big names like Thembinkosi Lorch, Sipho Chaine, Bathusi Aubaas, Samkelo Zwane and Relebohile Mofokeng, among others.

It was a one-way show, with the All-Stars team scoring their three goals in the first half.

Aubaas, Zwane and Gomolemo Kekana were impressive in midfield, which made it easy for Riveiro’s team to control the proceedings.

Riveiro effusively praised Zwane, describing him as flawless in possession and for his impressive defensive contributions towards the end of the match.

“I think Zwane, Kekana, and Aubaas, in the first half, gave us a different level in the middle of the park. I think it was a space where the game was dictated,” he stated.

“They made the difference to finally find these boys, [Relebohile Mofokeng], Ashley [du Preez] in the first half in really good positions.

“Also, in the second half, paired with Kekana, Zwane did a good job of giving us more control of the second half, not making mistakes in possession.

“He was really generous to help our centre-backs in the closing stages of the game and the second half when Magesi started to accumulate more players in the second line, so I think the centre of the team today was crucial to dominate the second half with possession and to give us speed in circulation in the first 45 minutes,” Riveiro concluded.

The game was undoubtedly a big win for Aubaas and Zwane, who have been getting some game time for the Chiefs and Sundowns, respectively.

However, for Hlongwane, it was a good game to remember. His Man-of-the-Match display might fast-track his introduction to the senior Kaizer Chiefs team.
