This is not the news Kaizer Chiefs followers have been keen to know. Orlando Pirates are winning the race to sign Oswin Appollis.

KAIZER CHIEFS LOSE OUT ON OSWIN APPOLLIS

It’s been popular knowledge that Amakhosi have been wanting to sign Polokwane City’s 23-year-old winger Appollis.

According to Tiyani Mabasa’s Unplayable, Orlando Pirates are signing Appollis and his Polokwane teammate Thabang Matuludi.

“Orlando Pirates are close to signing Oswin Appollis and Thabang Matuludi from Polokwane City. #UNPLAYABLE can reveal that the deal could be concluded before the end of this week,” the report said.

Appollis, 23, will arrive as cover in the wing or left wing after the exit of Katlego Otladisa last week. His teammate Matuludi, 25, will replace Bandile Shandu at right-back, who is expected to depart soon.

OTLADISA ON SEKHUKHUNE UNITED CHOICE

Meanwhile, Otladisa’s business representative, Nimrod Mbhalati, has offered the reasons around his client’s decision to leave Orlando Pirates to join Sekhukhune on loan.

“Look, Otladisa is loved at Pirates by both the board and the fans. So, we saw it fit for him to get game time somewhere else,” Mbhalati told FARPost.

“This is because, at his age, it’s very important for him to play.

“We had four teams who were interested in his services. But, we chose Sekhukhune simply because of the way they showed more interest in him. Yes, other teams showed interest, but with Sekhukhune, it was different.

“I mean, the manner in which teams approach you when they want you can influence your decision as to whether you want to join them. So, with Sekhukhune, it was easy for us to take that decision.

“He is a top player with a desire to play football. I think South Africa will see a different Otladisa, and I wish him all the best,” Mbhalati concluded.
