Old cheating rumours circulate surrounding Siya Kolisi’s divorce

It was in 2019 when Siya Kolisi was publicly shamed for allegedly sending Cape Town model Marike Botha flirtatious messages, according to TshisaLIVE.

Days after the announcement, Rachel Kolisi caused controversy by asking fans to locate the swimwear model, after which, scared and in the heat of South African media, Botha hired security.

In an interview with Drum, she said, “My manager organised a bodyguard for me, so I could keep going to gym, and I’m also going to get psychological help. I’m extremely emotional and struggling to concentrate in class,

“I didn’t cry, I didn’t feel guilty about anything because I knew I hadn’t done anything wrong. I was more shocked.”

Is separation a factor, too?

Before inking a deal with the Sharks and then a short stint with French side Racing 92, following which he returned to the Durban outfit, the Kolisi family had enjoyed family life when the World Cup winner played for the Stormers.

When he left for Kwa-Zulu Natal, the family stayed in the Mother City, where their two children, Nicholas and Keziah, continued to school.

Perhaps separation caused the initial tension, and it began to tumble towards divorce.

Full statement

The Kolisi’s, who had clocked eight years of marriage before the divorce, released the news on Instagram: “We wanted to share some important news with you. After much reflection and open conversations, we have mutually decided to end our marriage. This decision comes from a place of love, respect, and understanding that this is the best path forward for both of us.

“While our relationship as a couple is changing, we remain great friends and committed partners in raising our children with the same love and care they’ve always known. We will also continue working together on the Foundation that means so much to us.

“We are grateful for the love, understanding, and support you’ve shown us, and we kindly ask for respect as we navigate this transition.

“With gratitude and love,

“Siya and Rachel.”

Springboks duties for Siya Kolisi

Kolisi won’t have much time to process the situation as his side will soon tour the UK in November, playing Scotland, England, and Wales.

Do you think Siya Kolisi is the Springboks’ greatest captain?
