AmaZulu FC and Black Stars goalkeeper Richard Ofori has explained what proves PSL’s supremacy over other leagues in the African continent.

The 31-year-old goalie has spent seven years playing in the South African league.

He arrived when he signed for Maritzburg United in 2017. He moved to Orlando Pirates in 2020, leaving the club at the end of the previous season.

He now plies his trade at AmaZulu having signed on a free transfer following his departure from the Buccaneers.

Ofori attributes the PSL’s superiority to its popularity, stating that it’s the most-watched league in Africa. He draws parallels between the PSL and the English Premier League, emphasising its high level of competition and global appeal.

He revealed that he often receives calls from European-based players seeking opportunities in the South African league, further underscoring its global recognition.

OFORI WHAT PROVES THAT PSL IS BEST LEAGUE IN AFRICA

“This league is the best league in Africa,” Ofori told FARPost.

“No doubt about that, it’s the most watched league in Africa which is what happening in Europe, when you go there EPL is the most watched in world.

“So, in Africa, PSL is the most watched. This means we’re doing something right, it means things are right.

“Some of the European-based players call me that if I have something here I must call them, they are willing to come and play.

“So, it means they see the best that we have here and how beautiful the league is.

“What I can say is if they were not seeing anything good I’m not sure if they wouldn’t call me wanting to play here.

“The league is amazing, you can see with Bafana Bafana. What we are doing well, we must continue doing it so the league can grow and grow.”
