’Now Siya must do his own dishes’

Sadly, it’s not a great surprise that several South Africans responded insensitively and immaturely to the news that Siya and Rachel Kolisi had announced their divorce.

South African internet users respond to Siya and Rachel Kolisi’s divorce

We found some immature, insensitive comments on Facebook, which is pretty much exactly what we expected to find, as South Africans respond to the news that Siya and Rachel Kolisi are getting a divorce.

“Now Siya must do his own dishes” – Jasper Barnard

“Can they not wait until after the next World Cup.” = Ruandre Oosthuizen

“I hope Siya doesn’t lose concentration like Tiger Woods did.” – Charles Williams

Talk about spectacularly missing the point.

Full statement from Siya Kolisi via Instagram

Siya and Rachel Kolisi announced on Tuesday that their eight-year marriage has come to an end in an Instagram post.

“We wanted to share some important news with you. After much reflection and open conversations, we have mutually decided to end our marriage. This decision comes from a place of love, respect, and understanding that this is the best path forward for both of us. While our relationship as a couple is changing, we remain great friends and committed partners in raising our children with the same love and care they’ve always known. We will also continue working together on the Foundation that means so much to us.

We are grateful for the love, understanding, and support you’ve shown us, and we kindly ask for respect as we navigate this transition.

With gratitude and love,

Siya and Rachel.”
