Kaizer Chiefs have NOT made contact with Azam FC regarding the possibility of signing top African midfielder Feisal Salum.

This was confirmed by Azam spokesperson Hashim Ibwe in an interview with FARPost.

This comes on the back of speculation that Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi could be tempted to reunite with Salum.

Nabi and Salum worked together at Young Africans before the former moved to AS FAR and Chiefs.

The 26-year-old midfielder was impressive for Azam FC in the Tanzanian Premier League last season.

According to the same publication, Salum netted an impressive 19 goals for Azam last term.

And he has been linked with a possible move to either Chiefs or Simba SC who are coached by Fadlu Davids.

Chiefs have looked blunt upfront this season but that’s all due to the fact that they never signed any new striker.

Nabi is on record to say he doesn’t want to sign just any striker with no qualities to match the expectations at Chiefs.

That was after he confirmed rejecting a striker from Portugal for not meeting the criteria required to play for Chiefs

KAIZER CHIEFS NOT IN TALKS TO SIGN SALUM

“We can confirm that there have been no discussions between Kaizer Chiefs or any club and Azam FC regarding Feisal Salum,” said Ibwe.

“He remains under contract with Azam FC and respects the club, which we appreciate.”
