Local airline, FlySafair has made news yet again, this time for reports of a passenger landing a recent flight in Johannesburg.
As reported by Travel News, FlySafair recently set the record straight about rumours doing the rounds on social media that a passenger had to step in and land one of its aircraft after the Captain all of a sudden fell ill on the flight.
In a statement, the airline revealed that the Captain did indeed feel unwell during the flight from George to Johannesburg on Wednesday, 29 January, and that the First Officer had to take over.
“FlySafair can confirm that during yesterday’s flight FA711 from George to Johannesburg, our Captain reported feeling unwell during the latter stages of the journey. In line with standard operating procedures, the First Officer – who is fully certified and trained to operate the aircraft independently – assumed command and conducted a seamless landing at OR Tambo International Airport.” the airline said.
