Nabi says the words Kaizer Chiefs fans love

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nadreddine Nabi’s results have cost him a few supporters. But in the media, Nabi’s mentality has won him some followers.

NASREDDINE NABI PRIORITISING STYLE

The 2019/20 season saw Kaizer Chiefs only lose the championship in the final 20 minutes. While that was a proud result, the style of play came under fire. With tall strikers like Samir Nurkovic and Leonardo Castro upfront, haters, and later Amakhosi fans, dubbed the style ‘helicopter football.’

“I could play low block and helicopter football, and I’m sure I wouldn’t lose the points as we lost this season,” the Tunisian coach said via Kick Off.

“But honestly, if I come here, Chiefs recruited me not to play a low block. This is not the DNA of Chiefs, I need to respect the DNA of this club. It’s not possible that a big club plays a low block for immediate results to make fans happy.”

“You need to accept that when you lose too many points, it’s normal to get this reception, this negative reaction, but you don’t need to take these critics [personally] because I believe in this process and I know what’s needed to go to the next step,” Nabi added.

Meanwhile, Amakhosi take on Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup final on Saturday. The game will kick off at 15:00 from the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

WILL THE NEDBANK CUP CHAMPIONS BE KAIZER CHIEFS OR ORLAND PIRATES?
