Exciting former PSL star Walter Musona has reached yet another milestone at his club in Zimbabwe’s Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

Musona, who was previously linked with Kaizer Chiefs during the last transfer window, has been a cut above the rest during the 2024 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

In the PSL, Walter, Knowledge Musona’s young brother, mainly played for Polokwane City FC. He also had a brief stint at Sekhukhune United FC before returning to Zimbabwe after falling from grace.

WHAT MUSONA ACHIEVED IN ZIMBABWE’S PSL

Musona has been a vital cog during the ongoing 2024 season, where he captained Simba Bhora to their maiden league title in Zimbabwe.

They won the league with two games to spare. On Wednesday, they beat Arenel Movers 1-0 to ascertain their coronation.

Most importantly, Musona has contributed ten goals to his team and is five goals behind the leading goal-scorer. He has also provided nine assists in over 20 matches for the ambitious side.

This is his second title since returning to Zimbabwe, winning the league with FC Platinum in 2022. That same year, he was voted as the Soccer Star of the Year. He left to join Simba Bhora early this year.

Simba Bhora achieved an unassailable 66 points and will still win the league even if they lose the remaining two matches.

In addition, the impressive milestone leaves Musona as the favourite to win the 2024 Soccer Star of the Year gong.

Musona will be in the running for the award with Khama Billiat, who made a significant impact since making his way back to Zimbabwe. Billiat has, however, lost steam in the last five games. But it remains to be seen how they will end the season.

MUSONA IS EXPECTED TO BE AT HIS PENETRATIVE BEST IN THE UPCOMING AFCON QUALIFIERS

Crucially Musona has struck the right chords at a time when Zimbabwe is bracing for the final round of AFCON qualifiers. They face Kenya and Cameroon this month.

Their home against Kenya will be played at the New Peter Mokoba Stadium on Friday, 15 November 2024.

Last month, Musona notched a brace when The Warriors beat Namibia 3-1 to cement the second position in Group J. Prince Dube scored their third goal.

Zimbabwe have eight points from four outings and are two points behind group leaders, Cameroon. A win against Kenya will be enough for Zimbabwe to qualify for the CAF 2025 AFCON tournament set to be held in Morocco. Kenya are in third position, with Namibia anchoring the Group.
