Monnapule Saleng’s situation at Orlando Pirates is not fully understood.

The 26-year-old winger has not kicked a ball for over two months now and the club has yet to give details on why. This week, his agent, Karabo Tshabuse of P Management Sports refused to duel too much of the player’s absence.

“I’m not in a position to comment on anything regarding my client at the moment,” Tshabuse told Kick Off. “Unfortunately, I’m not giving commentary on enquiries.”

Monnapule Saleng has not played for Pirates in months

Saleng has made a total of 13 appearances across all competitions scoring five goals and creating one assist.

Following Pirates’ 4-1 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns, many Bucs fans took to X (Twitter) to demand the return of the winger. Some pundits also felt that Monnapule Saleng could have given the Buccaneers more legs upfront as an impact player against Donws.

@khedsmann wrote: “Going into the game without your best 11 is utter madness from Orlando Pirates management. “They don’t want to win the league, Saleng should’ve been back long ago.”

@MT_Ntsonda wrote: “It’s games like this that’ll make you miss, Thabiso Sesane, Olisah Ndah, Thalente Mbatha & Monnapule Saleng.”

With the Buccaneers involved in the Nedbank Cup, CAF Champions League and Betway Premiership, the Soweto giants need all the quality they can find. So far, the team has relied on Relebohile Mofokeng, Mohau Nkota and Patrick Maswanganyi for creativity.

Monnapule Saleng brings more than goals to the squad. His pace, clever runs and ability to take on defenders are what the team needs more.

Should Saleng return to Pirates?
