Chidinma Adetshina has been congratulated by Miss Universe South Africa.
Following her win at the 73rd Miss Universe on Sunday morning, the Miss Universe SA took to Twitter to celebrate the feat.
“Congratulations Chidimma Adentshina, the new Miss Universe Africa & Oceania. Because she is the highest placing African, she receives the continental title. Congratulations,” the tweet reads, adding the SA and Nigerian flag.
However, the organization faced backlash as some of Chidinma’s supporters slammed the pageant for the tweet.
“She won for Africa not SA get your words right next time,” a tweep wrote.
“Why was this not done with Lalela? How much money was the owner of Miss SA paid? Your interest in Nigeria is worrying. Our girls are no longer safe in your hands. No wonder Mia resigned. You didn’t give her support,” another wrote.
