The Galleria Venue in Sandton, Johannesburg, was filled with excitement on Thursday evening as industry figures gathered to celebrate the finalists for this year’s Metro FM Music Awards nominees announcement.
The star-studded event, hosted by Siphesihle Vaziand Zola Myeza, featured the announcement of the nominees through a captivating showcase of local talent.
The night attracted influential figures from the South African entertainment industry, all dressed to impress.
METRO FM MUSIC AWARDS 2025 NOMINEES FINALLY REVEALED
The Metro FM Music Awards are back with a bang, ready to honour the top talent in the South African music industry.
The official nominees announcement took place on Thursday evening at The Galleria Venue in Sandton. Moreover, it was a night full of glitz and glamour as this year’s nominees for the highly anticipated 19th edition of the awards were unveiled.
Performances by Nkosazana Daughter, Naledi Aphiwe Usimamane, and a set by Lerato Kgangaygo left the audience in awe. This set the mood for the main awards, taking place on Saturday, 03 May 2025, at Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga.
The highly anticipated awards ceremony will be broadcast live on SABC1.
This year, the station received an impressive 2,769 entries across 19 categories, showing a significant increase from the 1,700 entries last year.
Amapiano continues to dominate, with leading figures Kabza De Small, DJ Maphorisa, and Scotts Maphuma each securing four nominations. Sjava from iNkabi Nation follows closely, earning three nominations. Meanwhile, Kwesta and Cassper Nyovest also secured three nominations each, further showcasing the diversity of talent in the nominations.
To enhance the value of the awards, the Motsepe Foundation will also award a cash prize of R50,000 to the winner of each category and a grand prize of R150,000 for the Song of the Year winner.
