Meet the Orlando Pirates player on the brink of history!

Orlando Pirates striker Tshegofatso Mabasa is twelve goals away from writing his name in the history books.

The boy from Botshabelo has become a leader for the Buccaneers, scoring 41 goals in 111 appearances, equalling club greats Lesley Manyathela and Phumlani Mkhize.

Benedict Vilakazi’s (52 goal) all-time scoring record is what he chases next – with 18 games remaining in Orlando Pirates’ season, the 28-year-old has every reason to believe this campaign could be his moment.

Words from Mabasa

Betway Premiership’s reigning top goal scorer of the season is well aware he’s on the verge of doing something no Orlando Pirates player has ever done: score 53 goals.

“Tso’s record of 52 goals for the Buccaneers,” said Mabasa.

“It is something that my teammates have made me aware of, it’s not something that I’ve looked at personally, but the guys have encouraged me and motivated me to go through with this, and stay focused,

“It’s up to me to bury every chance that comes my way and claim that record because they believe that I am one of the best strikers this country has ever seen and they support me a lot. So it’s something that I want to achieve come end of this season.”

Orlando Pirates want Jaedin Rhodes

“He (Rhodes) has been one of their (Pirates’) targets for some time now,” SoccerLadumaconfirmed.

“They have been monitoring him though there hasn’t been much happening. They were targeting him for the January transfer window period.

“Now that it didn’t happen they have more time to work on it and will see what happens in the next window. But they are interested in him. That I can tell you.”

Another SLsource said, “obviously, they (Pirates) will either loan some out or release some as well. But that’s the time they need to work on their squad and since it didn’t happen in January then they will work on it in the off season. Rhodes is one player on that list already.“

Is Mabasa one of Orlando Pirates’ best players?
