Meet the man wanted by Kaizer Chiefs, Pirates & Stellenbosch

Thato Khiba’s stock keeps rising – just ask Kaizer Chiefs.

A diamond in the rough, the TS Galaxy defender has been a force at the back, albeit losing four of his side’s opening five PSL games.

He’s been so impressive that, according to SoccerLaduma, Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Stellenbosch FC are after the 28-year-old.

“For now, there are other clubs that have joined the race for his services. First, it was the Pirates who showed interest first, and then the Chiefs, followed by Stellenbosch FC, have also inquired about him”, said the source.

Nabi wants more players

Kaizer Chiefs hasn’t been shy about his intention of bringing more talent to the Soweto side, even after the arrival of seven signings in the offseason.

“Our squad has a lot of quality players. But I don’t think this is going to be the final squad. We are working on getting new players,” he reported to FARPost.

“A big club like Kaizer Chiefs needs a high level of quality in all lines: in defence, middle and attack. You know it’s easier to look for a defender than a striker.

“If you need top players, you need to take your time. We continue with my staff and the committee to look for players,” the AmaKhosi manager added.

“So, you would need time to work hard to profile players. We work together to profile players in defence as I don’t have this opportunity for attack.

“We will continue with my staff committee to look. I need the strikers, and maybe if we have the wingers.”

Chiefs next five PSL games

Nabi’s side sit 8th in the league following an impressive start to the season, but two losses and a draw have held them back.

  • Chiefs vs Richards Bay: Wednesday 27 Nov, 19:30
  • Chiefs vs Royal AM: Saturday 30 Nov, 17:30
  • Polokwane vs Chiefs: Sunday 08 Dec, 15:30
  • TS Galaxy vs Chiefs: Monday 16 Dec, 15:30
  • Chiefs vs Chippa: Sunday 29 December, 17:30

Defensively, they are shaky, conceding seven goals in five games, which, when you compare it to Orlando Pirates two, seems cause for concern and solidifies their reasoning for wanting to land Khiba.
