Mamelodi Sundowns brace for Lucas Ribeiro Exit

Mamelodi Sundowns could soon experience life without their leading man, Lucas Ribeiro Costa.

The latest to monitor the 26-year-old phenomenon is French side LOSC Lille, who are currently three points off Champions League qualification. “This is new interest. There are Lille representatives who have enquired about him,” SoccerLadumaconfirmed.

“They have shown serious interest in Ribeiro and the team cannot ignore that. But you know there are other clubs who have shown interest before, and the club is just waiting to hear from all those teams on the way forward.”

Ribeiro leads the league in goals (thirteen) and is third on the assists charts with seven. The Brazilian seems set to claim PSL’s Player of the Season award.

Sundowns prepared for Ribeiro loss

According to reports, the Tshwane-giants have contingencies set for loosing a star player (or two), insinuating that there’s a real chance Ribeiro leaves Sundowns in the winter.

They won’t be waiting for next season to see if Ribeiro or Peter Shalulile or even Iqraam Rayners leave, for them to look for a new striker. No.” a Siyasource reveladed.

“And that’s why you have players like Arthur Sales and young players from the DDC who can easily step up if any of their strikers leave at the end of the season because they have all attracted interest from different clubs.”

Mamelodi Sundowns lie fifteen points ahead of Orlando Pirates following last Sundays clash. The Buccaneers have four games in hand, setting the league up for a fascinating finish.

Will Sundowns be the same without Riveiro?
