Mamelodi Sundowns surpassed Chippa United last night to claim their eighth successive title, making PSL title number 18.

The Tshwane giants secured the league in style, netting three goals past the Chilli Boys. Former Mamelodi Sundowns striker Iqraam Rayners found the net in the eleventh minute before Arthur Sales made it two in the 69th minute before netting his second moments before the full-time whistle blew.

Transfer news

  • Sundowns have placed an R100 million price tag on PSL superstar Lucas Ribeiro Costa, who LOSC Lille is monitoring.
  • Iqraam Rayners is another Chloorkop player of European interest, namely the Scottish giants, the Glasgow Rangers.
  • Several African giants – Zamalek, Wydad Athletic, and Al Ahly – are circling Orlando Pirates youngster Relebohile Mofokeng.
  • The Buccaneers have reportedly joined Kaizer Chiefs in the race for Pyramids striker Fiston Mayele.

More on Mayele

“There has been contact [between Pirates and Mayele], and although nothing is concrete at this stage, there is a possibility,” an inside source revealed.

“Mayele’s camp is testing the waters and trying to see if Pirates are willing to make a concrete move to the PSL.”

“Given the current situation, both in terms of Pirates’ need for a proven striker and Mayele’s availability, this could be a very real transfer possibility.”

“It’s no secret that Pirates are in the market for a reliable goal-scorer, and after what Mayele did to them on the continental stage, it’s clear he could be that guy.”
