Sekhukhune United head coach Lehlohonolo Seema has shared his thoughts on whether Sipho Mbule’s absence against Mamelodi Sundowns affected Babina Noko’s performance.

On Saturday night, Sekhukhune suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Sundowns in a Betway Premiership tie at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria.

Goals from Arthur Sales, Iqraam Rayners, and Tresor Yamba’s own goal were enough to secure maximum points for Bafana Ba Style at home.

The Limpopo club went into this clash without one of their key player in the name of Sipho Mbule, who joined Sekhukhune on the last day of the previous transfer window period on loan from Sundowns.

Mbule couldn’t feature for Babina Noko due to Sundowns’ policy prohibiting loaned players from playing against them.

WHAT LEHLOHONOLO SEEMA SAID ABOUT SIPHO MBULE’S ABSENCE?

Seema acknowledged that he doesn’t think Mbule’s presence would have made a difference to change the game’s outcomes.

He went on to praise the good job done by the former Orlando Pirates duo of Lesedi Kapinga and Thabang Monare in the middle of the park in the absence of Mbule.

“No, I don’t think so [he would have made a difference in the game’s outcomes]. An agreement is an agreement. So, we knew it was going to happen when we play them,” said Seema when asked if Mbule’s absence affected their game plan.

“So, we prepared other players. I think the guys who came in did well. Lesedi [Kapinga] played very well, and he tried his best. Thabang Monare also came in and did everything in his power.

“We knew, and this is something that we cannot complain about. The guys who were there did very well. Let’s see what happens going into the next game.”

As things stand, Sekhukhune are placed eighth on the Betway Premiership log standings with 10 points from seven outings.

Sekhukhune’s next league assignment will be against Cape Town City FC on Saturday, 7 December, at the New Peter Mokaba in Pololwane. The game will start at 20:00.
