Pietermaritzburg – The speaker of the KZN Legislature, Nontembeko Boyce, has rejected the Umkhonto Wesizwe Party’s new chief whip, Marvin Dirks, brought in to replace suspended chief whip Dr Kwazi Mbanjwa. In a letter sent to MKP Secretary-General Floyd Shivhambu, Boyce said Mbanjwa has not resigned and the party is entitled to only one chief whip.
Ndwedwe – The heavy rain that is creating havoc in many parts of KwaZulu-Natal has destroyed infrastructure in the Ndwedwe local municipality. In many areas roads and bridges have been damaged. In other parts of the province households have suffered a lot as lightning has destroyed electricity supply infrastructure. The rain has also caused several road accidents.
Nongoma – Reverend Thulasizwe Buthelez, MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, offered immediate relief to the household of Umtwana wakwaFihlinqindi kaTselendoda kaDinuzulu, whose home was severely damaged by a structural fire. During a visit to Ward 15 of the Nongoma local municipality, the MEC provided essential supplies, including blankets, food parcels and plastic sheeting.
Durban – The accused in the murder case of award-winning rapper AKA, Mziwethemba Harvey Gwabeni and Lindokuhle Ndimande, will be applying for bail, based on new facts. Their application will be heard on Thursday at the Durban Magistrate’s Court.
