Keyshia Cole’s SA concert cancelled
South African fans eager to see Keyshia Cole live will be left disappointed, as the much-awaited concert has officially been called off.
After multiple delays and a promise from the R&B star that the show would go ahead, promoters have now pulled the plug entirely, citing continued scheduling issues with the artist’s team.
What was once an exciting announcement has turned into a string of letdowns.
The concert, initially scheduled last year, was postponed and later rescheduled following the devastating LA fire incident.
Most recently, Keyshia Cole herself took to social media to reassure fans that the show would take place next week. However, behind the scenes, things were still far from confirmed.
This week, the artist’s team made yet another request to move the date to better fit into Cole’s upcoming global tour set for later this year. That request was the final straw for local promoters Glen21 Entertainment, who announced the cancellation in a statement filled with regret.
“Due to the latest request to push the date back again, the promoter has declined to proceed with further changes and has no choice but to cancel the event altogether,” the statement read.
The promoter added that the decision was not taken lightly, especially considering how patient and supportive local fans have been.
“We are incredibly disappointed to let fans down once again. South African fans have shown immense excitement and loyalty and we were truly looking forward to bringing Keyshia Cole to our shores. Unfortunately, under the current circumstances with a request for yet another postponement, we are unable to continue pursuing a new tour date yet again.”
No word yet on whether the artist will revisit the idea of a future performance in South Africa, but for now, those who hoped to see her live will have to keep waiting
