Kaizer Chiefs ‘trend-setter’ and midfielder George Matlou is not worried about his soon-to-expire contract with the club.

Matlou took social media by storm for wearing his Chiefs attire for days following their Nedbank Cup triumph.

Prior that, Matlou subbed himself into the game, replacing Njabulo Blom in what also became a talking point on social media.

However, it’s now back to reality with his Amakhosi contract expiring on 30 June – the Soweto-born midfielder though is not focusing on that.

Speaking to the media, Matlou said he will leave everything in the hands of the club’s hierarchy and technical team.

He ffurther revealed that he hasn’t spoken to his agent about what the future holds, saying he prefers not to talk to his agent in the middle of the season.

“My contract is coming to an end but I leave it to God, I grew up in the church,” said Matlou on Wednesday as per The Citizen.�

“I leave it to God, and to the technical team, and the board … but it is football so I am not going to plan for the future now.

“My focus is to win on Saturday and get into the top eight.”

“I am one player who doesn’t talk to his agent during a season. I have to focus on the team I am currently playing for. If I start thinking about my contract I will lose concentration on my game,” he added.

MATLOU HINTS HE WANTS TO STAY AT KAIZER CHIEFS

“I still have to win more trophies with the club, they have done a lot for me and I have to pay them back,” Matlou continued.�

“It was a great feeling for me (to win the Nedbank Cup) … one achievement you are looking for as a player, winning a cup with a brand as big as Chiefs.

“It was a major achievement for me and the club. There was all this talk about ten years, blah, blah,” he concluded.
