Kaizer Chiefs transfer news: Sirino, Appollis, Salum, Basadien

Despite signing a total of 10 players this season, Kaizer Chiefs are still struggling and will need to go back to the transfer market.

The Soweto giants lie eighth in the Betway Premiershipafter 18 matches played. Although most of their new signings have done well, the club is still 28 points away from log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

Next season, Kaizer Chiefs will look to add more quality players to compete for top honours. Here are some of the players that the club has been linked with.

Feisal Salum

The Tanzanian midfielder was heavily linked with a move to Naturena in the past few months. It was reported that Salum could join any team next season as a free agent but recent reports claim the midfielder penned a new 18-month contract extension with Azam.

Oswin Appollis

The Polokwane City star is eager to leave but Rise and Shine are not looking to sell their superstar to any South African team. If Kaizer Chiefs keep pushing and break the bank for Appollis, they might be a team to beat next season.

Fawaaz Basadien

The Stellenbosch FC left-back doesn’t come for cheap. Amakhosi’s first offer was rejected but it appears the Glamour Boys didn’t try again. Despite buying Bradley Cross as Sfiso Hlanti’s replacement at left-back, Kaizer Chiefs have struggled at that position this season. Three different players have played in that position but all struggled to impress. Basadien is the man needed to stabilise the left side of defence.

Kaizer Chiefs need more quality

Gaston Sirino

Sirino started his Amakhosi’s tenure like a house on fire. The Uruguayan was easily Amakhosi’s best player in the opening six games. His form tipped somewhat after that and injuries halted his progress. His behaviour on and off has reportedly been an issue for the Kaizer Chiefs bench and last week, he was suspended for one game after receiving a red card.

That game which he will miss is against his former team Mamelodi Sundowns. If the team can play well without Sirino, he might be released by next season.
