Kaizer Chiefs to replace Fiacre Ntwari with a teenager?

Kaizer Chiefs are set to continue to improve their squad for next season, with some reinforcements coming from within.

Chiefs have made 10 signings during the course of the 2024/25 season in trying to boost new coach Nasreddine Nabi

Chiefs struggling with consistency

Despite that amount of signings, Chiefs have still struggled for consistency in the Betway Premiership. They find themselves languishing in eighth position on the log, having only won consecutive games once all season. They failed to turn that statistic around after playing a 0-0 draw to Cape Town City in midweek.

One of the players signed to try and improve the fortunes of Chiefs is goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari. The Rwandan international joined Amakhosi after an impressive season with TS Galaxy. But after early struggles, he was dropped and has continued to fall out of the pecking order. In fact, he now finds himself behind both Bruce Bvuma and Brandon Petersen. Those both being keepers he found struggling at the club.

There have been numerous reporting that Chiefs are looking to sell or loan Ntwari out next season. Now according to Soccer-Laduma, that could open up a spot for teenage academy keeper Takalani Mazhamba

“They (Chiefs) have been looking at different young goalkeepers but Mazhamba has stood out in recent times both in training with the senior team as well as in games for the DDC team where he has kept six clean sheets and the club is happy with that and that’s why they are offering him a three-year senior team contract. The technical team believes if given more game time in friendly games in the pre-season then he could compete at a higher level as well,” said a source.

A second source claimed that Chiefs could sacrifice two goalkeepers for Mazhamba.

Set to replace Ntwari?

“The team (Chiefs) is looking for an experienced goalkeeper but at the same time they may release two as they look to cut down players in the goalkeeping department. It’s believed that they are looking at Bontle Molefe and Fiacre Ntwari to be either loaned out or sold if chances be and promote Takalani (Mazhamba),” said the second source.
