Chiefs are gearing up for a major midfield boost as Venezuelan playmaker Edson Castillo nears his long-awaited return from injury.With the second half of the season intensifying, Castillo’s comeback couldn’t come at a better time for Amakhosi.
The midfield maestro has been sidelined since October after suffering a fractured fibula against SuperSport United. Initially expected to be out for four to five months, Castillo has now resumed training and is on track to be available for selection by late February.

In other transfer news, Kaizer Chiefs are closely monitoring Royal AM’s first-choice goalkeeper, Xolani Ngcobo, amid growing uncertainty at the club.
Royal AM’s off-field struggles have led several players to reconsider their futures, with Ngcobo emerging as a key target for Amakhosi. A source close to the situation confirmed Chiefs’ interest. Though they may not necessarily be looking at him as their first-choice shot-stopper.
“There were other teams that had also shown interest before. But the one that has inquired about him in recent times after what is happening at the club is Kaizer Chiefs. They have shown serious interest and have inquired. But with the current situation at Royal AM, there is nothing much we can say. I think they will wait on what is going to happen first as they monitor the situation. But they are interested in him,” the source revealed.
With Royal AM’s instability casting doubt over Ngcobo’s future, Chiefs appear poised to pounce should the opportunity arise.
