Kaizer Chiefs set for major squad overhaul – Who is out?

Kaizer Chiefs are set for major squad overhaul, but this means players are on the way out.

Chiefs are making bold moves ahead of the new season, focusing on strengthening their midfield and wing positions. However, one player who might not be part of their plans is Tebogo Potsane.

A source within Naturena revealed that Potsane’s future depends on the club’s aggressive recruitment strategy. Chiefs are reportedly planning to bring in at least four to five new players across different positions, which could leave Potsane without a place in the squad.

“His future is still hanging in the balance now. The team is working on bringing in new players. It’s believed they want to bring in at least four to five in different positions and that’s what would affect Tebogo (Potsane). So for now, his future is really not with Kaizer Chiefs,” the source disclosed.

Chiefs to trim squad for a stronger

The club is also looking to reduce the squad size, ensuring a more manageable and competitive team. Several players are expected to leave as part of this restructuring.

“Some of these players could have been released this season, but there were injuries and uncertainties in other areas. Now, it’s believed that the coach has made it clear that they need a sizeable, workable squad. To do that, they are expected to release more and sign less, and Potsane’s future will be determined by those new signings,” the source added.

Limited game time raises doubts over Potsane’s role

Potsane remains under contract with Kaizer Chiefs until June 2026, but his struggle for game time has raised serious concerns about his future at the club. Injuries have kept him sidelined for much of the season, restricting his opportunities to prove himself on the field.

Even when fit, he has faced stiff competition for a spot in the starting line up. With the club actively pursuing new signings and reshaping the squad, Potsane must fight harder than ever to secure his place. If he fails to break into the team’s plans, he could soon find himself searching for opportunities elsewhere.

With major signings on the horizon and a squad revamp in progress, will Potsane find a place at Kaizer Chiefs next season, or is his time at Naturena coming to an end? Stay tuned for the latest transfer updates as Amakhosi continue their squad overhaul.
