Kaizer Chiefs attacker Christian Saile is nearing an exit amid interest from two PSL outfits, SuperSport United and Chippa United.
The 25-year-old DR Congo international has failed to impress this season, failing to hit the net in six appearances, prompting Chiefs management to look at possible suitors in order to sign a replacement, such as Oswin Appollis or Fiston Mayele.
Saile has a market value of R8.7 million, a figure Kaizer Chiefs will hope to meet but could struggle due to his plummeting drop in form.
There’s a good chance Chippa United and SuperSport United battle it out for the player’s signature, hoping a move would revive his career.
Khune suggests Chippa
Former Kaizer Chiefs champion Itumeleng Khune believes Saile will be best suited at Chippa, saying, “Saile’s strength is to run at defenders, but he has not shown that since coach Nasreddine Nabi took over,
“Remember when he came, he used to bang in goals. He used to take on defenders, creating opportunities coming from the right-hand side as a left-footed player.
“But I think if Chippa United eventually sign him, they will make use of him, but with Kaizer Chiefs, I doubt.”
To the dismay of assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef and all Kaizer Chiefs fans, AmaKhosi have struggled this season:
“That’s football: every day, you win or you lose, you have to prepare for the next game,” said Youssef.
“If we win this game or we lose, we have to prepare now, and finish this game. We did what we had to do.
“For sure, we are not happy about the situation, but we are ready to prepare now. We’ll take two days’ rest, then we’ll come back to continue working.
“We believe [in] what we do, we know what we have to do. All the players believe in the capacity, and they know what they have to do.
“We have to continue to work. There’s no solution about working: to get results, you have to work. We will continue working.”
