Free agency beckons for Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Matlou with his contract expiring at the end of June.
The silver lining is that he’ll likely remain in South Africa’s topflight as Kwa-Zulu Natal’s AmaZulu FC continue to keep tabs on the 26-year-old.
“What I can tell you now is that the team that I know to have shown interest in George (Matlou) is AmaZulu. It could still be at the early stages as things are but it’s believed that they have enquired about him,” the Siya crew reported.
A second source added, “There are no talks at the moment regarding the renewal of his contract. His current contract expires in June this year and by now he should be knowing whether he is staying or not and that’s what could give AmaZulu a chance to sign him for free. His future at Chiefs is not clear.”
