Kaizer Chiefs make inquiry for potential Reeve Frosler replacement!

Kaizer Chiefs could be about to make another signing in the transfer window if the latest news is accurate.

Chiefs are believed to be closing in on the signing of striker Tashreeq Morris but that might not be all.

Chiefs set to swap Saile for Morris

Morris has already undergone his medical and is expected to join Chiefs imminently. On the other hand, Christian Saile will join SuperSport United on a loan deal as part of the swap deal. On the other end of the pitch, it looks like Amakhosi management are still keen to shore up their defence. In the close season, seven defensive signings were made by the club but clearly more are needed.

That has seen Chiefs linked to Richards Bay FC right-back Lwandile Mabuya. Two weeks ago, this publication reported that Natal Rich Boyz chairman Jomo Biyela confirmed an approach from Amakhosi. He did state that it was not accompanied by an official offer, however. This week the latest update was that the 24-year-old was set to make a big move during this transfer window.

Amakhosi move for Mabuya

Now according to SABC Sport, Chiefs have returned to Richards Bay to test the waters for Mabuya.

“Kaizer Chiefs are understood to have made an enquiry over Richards Bay right back Lwandile Mabuya’s availability, SABC Sport can confirm. The Glamour Boys see the 24-year-old as a possible long-term replacement for Reeve Frosler, who is in the final six months of his contract. Amakhosi are yet to speak to Frosler about extending his stay although the utility defender is currently a regular under coach Nasreddine Nabi.

Chiefs’ interest in Mabuya poses a question over the future of Dillan Solomons, who has not only battled injuries but struggled to break his way into the team following his recovery with only three appearances so far. It’s believed Richards Bay could be swayed into selling if the offer meets their valuation of the player and the deal is concluded in time to allow them to find a replacement this month.” Wrote the publication.

Chiefs fans would you like to see Mabuya compete with Reeve Frosler? Or would you like to see him replace the long-serving 27-year-old? Feel free to leave your thoughts and feelings in the comments below.
