Kaizer Chiefs look for Basadien alternatives in Europe

Kaizer Chiefs main target at left back was Fawaaz Basadien at Stellenbosch FC but none of their attempts proved successful.

In January they made another play at signing Basadien but yet again nothing came of it. Basadien, who inked a four-year contract extension with Stellenbosch, remains a cornerstone of his current team. This long-term commitment made it incredibly difficult for Chiefs to negotiate a deal, especially during the January transfer window.

Basadien’s on-field exploits this season have made him one of South Africa’s top football talents. In 45 appearances across all competitions, he has scored seven goals and delivered eight assists. His ability to combine attacking flair with defensive solidity has been pivotal for Stellenbosch, contributing to several clean sheets.

Now according to reports, Basadien is on his way to the Betway Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

Source reveals the latest on Chiefs left back target

But now our source has revealed that they are now looking at alternatives.

“The latest left back they are monitoring is (Nkanyiso)Shinga but to convince him to leave Portugal will take a lot, as his team was promoted to the top flight,” the source told The South African.

“The only good thing is that his contract is coming to an end this season. But what I’m hearing is that he is an important player for them. Also they might offer him a new contract.”

Shinga’s side FC Alverca finished the season in second place, one point behind Sphephelo Sithole’s parent club, CD Tondela in first.

Nkanyiso Shinga has missed the last two games due to an injury but the 25 year old has been the starting left back throughout the season. Going on to make 20 appearances this season.

Do you think Kaizer Chiefs have the means to sign Shinga?
