Kaizer Chiefs identify Gaston Sirino replacement

Following reports that Gaston Sirino is causing problems, Kaizer Chiefsare thought to have already lined up his replacement.

Sirino joined Chiefs as a free agent from Mamelodi Sundowns at the beginning of the season and started well.

However, as Chiefs have declined, so has his form with Sirino only having three goal contributions in nine games. He was a live-wire every time he has played for Amakhosi this season, often adding spark to their attacks. He has also combined well and offered good guidance to youngsters Mduduzi Shabalala, Wandile Duba and Mfundo Vilakazi. With that stature at the club, you would think it would translate to discipline and being a role model off the field too.

Sirino could be replaced at Chiefs

That proved not be the case as this publication reported that Sirino had disciplinary issues. These have reportedly seen Chiefs consider his future at the club. Now according to Soccer-Laduma, they have already identified his replacement. This in Tanzanian star Feisal Salum of Azam FC.

“You see with the Sirino story it is a bit tricky. Management is supporting him. And actually that’s where the problem is. The coach didn’t recommend his signing. He was actually signed by management with recommendations from scouts and agents. At the moment he is one of the team’s best players and he has to play. But if the coach had another player who who plays in that position then he would be using that player and not Sirino. As for the indiscipline – he is not (a trouble maker). He is a senior player and he leads by example and management likes and supports him,” said the source.

The second source then revealed that Salum is who Chiefs could replace Sirino with in January!

Salum the top candidate?

You see the Tanzanian midfielder Feisal Salum that the (Chiefs) technical team has recommended, he is looked at as a replacement for Sirino as far as the coaches are concerned. He is the one who can take over (the starting spot) and challenge Sirino in that position. But if that doesn’t work out then the team will be caught between a rock and a hard place and continue using Sirino even if the technical team has problems with him,” said the source.

Chiefs fans would this be the right thing to do? Or should Sirino be kept at least until the end of the season? Would rotation between him and Salum work better? Feel free to leave your thoughts and feelings in the comments below.
